Cody is known as the "the Rodeo Capital of the World" and with good reason! Since the 1940"s the city has been the site of the Cody Nite Rodeo, the only nightly rodeo in the country! It's believed that rodeo was born in 1864 when two groups of cowboys from neighboring ranches met in Deer Trail, Colorado to settle a dispute over who was the best at performing everyday ranching tasks. Rodeo occupies a unique postion in modern sports, it's a window into the past of the old west, yet offers a unique and modern sport unlike any other. Watch in awe as cowboys, and cowgirls are challenged by stock and events such as bareback riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, saddle bronc riding, team roping, barrel racing, and the ever anticipated bull riding!
